Fawkes & Reece are searching for a Health & Safety manager to join the team of an office fit out contractor based in East London. The role is to oversee and implement all H&S practices within the company and across several sites in Central London valued between £100k to £5m. The company turns over approximately £25m a year.
My client specialises in CAT A & B office fit out projects and ideally you will have worked on similar projects with supporting references. Candidates from a commercial, retail or hospitality fit out background will also be considered.
Day rate: £250/day
H&S Manager Responsibilities:
*Responsible for the interpretation of project contractual and statutory requirements and obligations through both the pre-construction and construction phases of projects.
*The role holder will be responsible for advising on overall compliance in matters of Health, Safety and Well-being on site in accordance with Company policy, ISO standards and relevant statutory provisions.
*Reporting to the Managing Director
*Will undertake site inspections and feedback to project teams and Directors
*You will share knowledge to aid the development, training and mentoring of others as well as delivering Health & Safety induction programmes for new employees or contractors working on site; as well as refresher training and advising the management team in respect to SHEQ.
*The role requires updating and improving company Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and documentation, Producing Construction Health and Safety Plans and associated supporting documentation, maintain records, registers and data as required.
*As part of the role you may be required to chair safety meetings, both with the workforce and supply chain.
H&S Manager Requirements:
*Must have detailed technical knowledge of health and safety legislation and keep up to date with legislative changes, be NEBOSH certified and hold a Relevant CSCS Card.
*Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
*Will demonstrate a proactive and "can do" attitude when it comes to dealing with problems on site
*Must be able to work accurately under pressure
*Must be able to work independently, self-motivate and take responsibility for all H&S duties
*Must be willing to travel between Central London, East London and Essex
*Must have worked on fit out projects
*Open to freelance / temp-to-perm options
